How Can I Transfer My Domain to You?

Solution

If you wish to transfer your domain to us please do the following:

  1. Go to https://hudsonenterprises.co/services/domain-names/
  2. Click on the link that says "Grab your domain name now!"
  3. Once there, mouse over the menu bar at the top that says "Domains" and select "Domain Transfer". Transfers take 4-5 days when done correctly.

MUST READ BEFORE TRANSFERRING

There are two things that must be setup correctly on your domain or the transfer will fail. You must check these 2 things before trying to do a transfer.

1. You must make sure the domain isn't locked. If it is locked, even if you agree to the transfer, the transfer will fail.

2. You must check to make sure the email listed for your domain is correct. Once you start the transfer, it is going to email this address asking for permission to move the domain. If the email listed isn't your email or doesn't work you can't respond to this email and thus the transfer will fail.

You can check both of the above by going to: https://domains.hudsonenterprises.co/whois. Once there, type your domain name (do not use www or http:// - just the domain) in the box and click search.

Find where it says "Domain Status" and note the "Domain Status" for "clientTransfer"... Prohibited means the domain is locked. You must get this changed before doing the transfer.

Now scroll down to where it lists the "Whois Record". Find where it says "Admin Email:" This is where your correct email must be listed. If you have already changed the Administrative Contact record at your current registrar and named us as your Administrative Contact, the transfer will go much smoother and quicker, but as long as YOU can respond to the email you'll be receiving, that's fine.

To get the above changed you must contact the registrar you bought the domain from to do it for you. (Some let you make the changes yourself from their control panel).

Note: You can't transfer a domain unless it has been at the current registrar for at least 60 days. If your domain is expired you cannot transfer it until you first renew it with the current registrar.

If your domain is due for expiration within 10 days, you probably should renew it where it is and then do the transfer. When you transfer your domain to us, remember, you'll get one additional year added on to your domain's expiration date automatically.

If you have any questions about transferring your domain, it's probably best to file a support ticket with us and let us handle the transfer for you, unless you truly know what you're doing. We can usually get a domain name transferred within 48 hours if we have access to the correct domain information to start the transfer.
